That moment- starting the first day of teacher training
Day 4- May 16th 2014 Dharamsala
It’s the first day of yoga teacher training, it’s finally happening after months of research and planning! Each day starts at 6:15am with mantra readings, pranayama breathing exercises and meditation for 2 hours. An amazing purity of the mind, it becomes a great way to start the day. After a tea break, we began our first asana class, after we have breakfast, and its off to Philosophy.
What is philosophy and yoga, a question that opens up some new doors to a practice I’ve been learning for over a year. For the first day we discussed how yoga let’s go of the attachments of the mind. In life we always have suffering, and we are always searching for a permanent solution to remove the suffering. But with techniques of breath control (Pranayama), Asanas (postures) and mediation we can begin to remove all the suffering. I’ve always enjoyed the philosophy behind yoga, and the lessons of life that come with each pose.
After class we all had lunch which is usually rice with Indian spices and pita. My 2 hour break I walk around the city and study for sometime before our second class out on the deck overlooking the Dhauladhar mountain. First day of teacher training is done and I absolutely can’t wait to do it all again!
